Thank You Sioux Falls, For Helping These 10 Charities Make a Difference
February 15, 2018
To celebrate our 10th anniversary in Sioux Falls, Security National Bank of South Dakota wanted to raise awareness of 10 local charities in our community – one month at a time. Here's a review of the 10 non-profit organizations we selected, and the amazing things they're doing to make a difference in Sioux Falls!
Make-a-Wish® Foundation
In January, we gathered luggage, backpacks and other travel supplies for The Make-A-Wish® Foundation of South Dakota. Since 1984, this foundation has granted more than 1,300 wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions across the state.
Volunteers of America
In December, our bankers went to Volunteers of America and wrapped hundreds of gifts that were given to veterans in need!
Salvation Army "Angel Tree"
During the holiday season, we collected more than 100 gifts underneath the Salvation Army “Angel Trees” located at each Sioux Falls branch. Every Christmas, the Salvation Army of Sioux Falls collects gifts for more than 3,000 local children in need through at various Angel Tree sites across town.
Veterans Services Center
In October, we collected hats, gloves and personal care products for the Veterans Services Center in Sioux Falls — which offers drop-in services for veterans and their families who are either experiencing or at risk for homelessness.
Lifescape
In September, we collected gift cards for patients of Lifescape, an independent non-profit that empowers children and adults with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives through therapy, medical services, work placement programs and other opportunities.
The Compass Center
In August, we collected children’s books, puzzles, candy, craft kits and other items for The Compass Center, a Sioux Falls organization that assists victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Lunch is Served, Inc.
In July, we collected fruit cups, breakfast bars and other food items for Lunch is Served, Inc. Through this organization, volunteers — including our SNB employees — pack and deliver sack lunches across Sioux Falls to the working poor, free of charge.
The Teddy Bear Den
In June, we collected clothing, bottles and baby products for The Teddy Bear Den, a non-profit education program that provides referrals and support for soon-to-be mothers, new parents and their families.
Feeding South Dakota
In May, we gathered non-perishable food items to benefit “Feeding South Dakota,” a local organization that works every day to eliminate hunger statewide.
Sioux Falls Area Humane Society
In April, we collected pet care items to support the Sioux Falls Humane Society, whose mission is to “provide a safe haven and human voice for all animals in need.”
Thanks again, Sioux Falls. Your support helped make our 10th year in Sioux Falls our most rewarding one yet!
